Sunrise Montessori School

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

Friends of Sunrise Montessori is pleased to again be offering the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for the 2010-2011 school year.

Started in 2001, TAP allocates grants based on a family's financial need and is designed to further the school's mission to enroll students from all segments of the community. FOSM will be offering 6 grants for the 2010-11 school year.  Families with children who will be enrolled in the kindergarten and elementary programs for the tuition assistance year may apply, so long as the family has had at least one child who attended Sunrise for one academic year prior to applying for tuition assistance.

Due to the personal finances of many families becoming increasingly complicated, we will again be using the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) application process. The NAIS application forms, along with the revised FOSM TAP program guidelines are now available in the school office. Additionally NAIS is offering online applications for the first time this year. Please visit http://sss.nais.org/parents/ for more information.

Here are some important dates and information you will need in order to complete the application and apply for our program:

  • Sunrise Montessori school SSS code is 4040
  • Please do not submit your NAIS Applications until AFTER November 15, 2009 to ensure it is applied to the correct academic year.
  • The FOSM deadline for Applications to be received by NAIS is December 31, 2009.
  • There is an Application fee but Friends of Sunrise has received 5 Fee Waiver forms. Due to the fact that FOSM allocates 6 grants we will distribute these on a first come first served basis. The Fee Waivers forms are available in the office with the applications.

We are delighted to be able to offer this program at Sunrise Montessori and want to remind you that it is anonymous. Sunrise Montessori will receive a score for each family and then the TAP coordinator for the Board will allocate the awards on an anonymous basis. If you wish you may address any general questions to Lee O'Dwyer; however we recommend any specific questions be funneled through the school office to insure anonymity.
