Summary: Stay current with the latest class news.I hope all of you enjoyed the Earth Day songs that were so beautifully performed by your children. It is so meaningful to them to see so many parents present to celebrate this special day with them. The children also had a great time with the day's activities. We worked in our garden, planted spring flower seeds, worked on rebuilding our birdfeeder, and made plaster casts of animal tracks. We also made Earth Day drawings and slogans to go on 50 Vallergas grocery bags to help encourage people to recycle. A great effort!
Our current studies are Birds, Leaves/Flowers, Timeline of Life, Volcanoes, and Telling Time. We have made shadow clocks and two different water clocks to show how things were done long ago. We are looking at sundials and reading many interesting things about clocks and their history. We just had the Third Great Lesson, the story of the Coming of Humans. The children always look forward to these stories which help to ignite their curiosity about the history of the Earth. Ask your child what gifts the humans had, which the animals did not. Hopefully this will generate some interesting evening discussions.
We have a field trip to the Vet's home in May, more information will be coming your way. SAT 9 prep and tests will be the weeks of May 10th and May 17th. Please sign up for parent conferences on the sheets located on our front porch.
