Multi-age education is the practice of teaching children of different ages together in the same classroom without dividing the students or curriculum into steps labeled by grade designations. Students progress along a continuum of simple to more complex material at their own pace. They make continuous progress, rather than being promoted to the next grade at the end of the school year. Students stay will the same teacher for 2-3 years and generally two-thirds of the students remain together from year to year, with only the oldest students advancing to the next group.
Each spring, standardized tests are given to our 3rd through 6th year elementary students.

After the toddler year, all of our Montessori programs are multi-age groups.  Dr. Montessori and many influential educators since her time believe that children learn best in a mixed-age classroom which enables them to observe and role model a wide range of behavior.  Older children perfect their own skills as they teach and serve as role models for the younger ones.  Younger children look up to their classmates and older elementary students and are inspired by their behavior and knowledge.
